This bill would allow local school districts to compensate public and charter school teachers for any sick or vacations days earned but not used. This creates an additional teacher incentive, but it is at the discretion of the school district whether or not to implement it.
The bill would not overrule any existing teacher incentive programs that may be stricter that the new options this bill would provide. This bill simply creates a new option for rewarding and incentivizing teachers without turning it into a costly mandate or assuming best practices that may differ from district to district.
This is an example of the way the General Assembly should approach education policy.
