S.959 would repeal existing law that allows individuals who are behind in child support payments to have their driver’s license revoked or restricted. This is a sensible reform.

Revoking or restricting a driver’s license is a penalty which has nothing to do with the offense of failure to make child support payments. And in the case of revoking a license it may actually hurt efforts by the offender to remedy the situation, as it will become more difficult for the offender to travel to and from work. A far more sensible punishment/remedy would be garnishing wages.
