S.179 would make it illegal to use, sell, purchase, or even possess powdered or crystalline alcohol (powders that can be mixed with water to create alcoholic beverages). This product isn’t even widely available yet and legislators are already rushing to ban it. There is no reason to believe that alcohol in powdered form is any more dangerous than it is in liquid form. This legislation is nothing more than excessive paternalism.
