The South Carolina Policy Council (SCPC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of an Executive Director to lead South Carolina’s longest-serving organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty and responsibility in the state of South Carolina.
The SC Policy Council is excited to team with an experienced public policy and political operative from the Carolinas to advocate for taxpayers, free markets, parent-directed public education and governmental accountability as the organization enters its 37th year of service to citizens of the Palmetto State.
Effective May 1, 2022, the SCPC Board of Directors appointed Dallas Woodhouse, a native of North Carolina, to the position. His resume includes the successful leadership of impactful nonprofit organizations with more than two decades of service as a director, grassroots organizer, advocate and a leading conservative communicator.
“Mr. Woodhouse has a demonstrated track record of delivering policy solutions to taxpayers including tax relief, tort reform, expansion of school choice and government accountability” said SCPC Chairman John Mahoney. “We feel Dallas is the right person at the right time to help South Carolina take advantage of our historic opportunity to empower taxpayers, parents and job creators. For more than three-and-a-half decades, the South Carolina Policy Council has been an advocate for South Carolina taxpayers and entrepreneurs. Mr. Woodhouse, along with the SCPC team, is well-positioned to continue and grow this important mission.”
Mr. Woodhouse responded:

South Carolina has been a leader in innovative conservative public policy solutions, and I look forward to working with South Carolina policymakers to continue to make the Palmetto State the best in the nation to work, live, play, start a business, raise a family and retire.”
Here are a few highlights from Dallas’s experience/background:
Mr. Woodhouse comes to SCPC from the John Locke Foundation, one of the largest and most successful state-based conservative think tanks in America.
In 2013, Woodhouse founded and directed Carolina Rising, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to highlighting the success of conservative policy reforms.
During his time as the North Carolina State Director for Americans for Prosperity (2007-2013), Mr. Woodhouse worked with citizen activists, community leaders and state officials to implement large-scale tax relief and reform. AFP activists were central in passing medical malpractice tort reform, unemployment insurance reform, as well as the largest tax cut in North Carolina’s history in 2013.
Mr. Woodhouse has been a guest on national news broadcasts including Fox News, CNN, as well as been quoted in the New York Times and the Washington Post. On social media, Dallas has been featured debating his liberal brother Brad, a University of South Carolina graduate and leading Washington, D.C.-based Democratic political operative.
Mr. Woodhouse became part of a widely seen viral moment when appearing on C-SPAN with his brother where the two were dressed down by their mother for their combative ways. The clip has over six million views. The Woodhouse family has shared this honest debate with the public, creating a viral sensation to raise money for the Autism Society. Mr. Woodhouse has also been an on-air television host and political reporter.
Mr. Woodhouse is a native of Raleigh and holds a Master of Arts from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Campbell University. Dallas is married to the former Christine Ischer, of Oakton Virginia. They have two sons – Jackson and Cooper. Dallas and Christine will be a great fit for our community pursuing their hobby of shag dancing and other family-oriented pursuits.
